Well, of course, if you're really interested, you would probably know that the war was part of the fulfillment of the manifest destiny, i.e. to conquer the continent coast to coast for the Americans. And well, Mexico was, like Belgium was for Germany, in the way.

Also known as Polk's war, since James K. Polk was the only real president to actually want this sort of war. What a man. What a war.
